for daddy

I knew on our first date that I wanted Alan to be the father of my children.

Sound crazy? Okay, maybe a little…  but I knew what I was looking for and I knew when I’d found it.

And here we are, eleven years since that first date, and Alan is now the father of my children–a fun, relaxed, grounded, affectionate, and devoted father.

I told him he could do whatever he wanted today, and do you know what he chose?

He chose a load of laundry, some garage time, and a picnic dinner at the park with us.

(I would have asked for a bit more than that.)

My girls are pretty lucky.

And so am I.

Happy Father’s Day to Alan,

and to all the other devoted daddies out there!
