summer solstice

We had a bonfire with s’mores and grandparents in honor of summer solstice.  Even though summer is not my favorite season (fall is), I do love it for what it is–minus the mosquitoes.

those curls...

I love watching the moon and its phases and how it defines the seasons.  I love  how all people of the world who have seeing eyes, from Minneapolis to Timbuktu, watch the same moon night after night.

I love how the moon cycles, predictably, looking over all of humanity since the beginning of time. It is reliable, grounding, and unaffected by the world below.

That’s what summer solstice has me thinking about.
